The Bible makes it absolutely clear when life begins. Even Princeton University has a website post entitled: “Life Begins at Fertilization.”
Jeremiah 1:15 says: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations (NASB).”
Some claim it begins at implantation, while others argue a child is not a child until it is “viable” outside the womb.
And, there are those like Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards—the mother of three—who feels her children weren’t alive until “…I delivered them.”
She’s quick to add, however, that her view is her own “…personal decision,” and thinks “…every woman needs to make her own decision.”
Richards made the remarks during a recent television interview in which she declared when life begins is not “really relevant” when discussing abortion.
Her attitude is similar to that expressed in a January, 2013 article in Salon.com titled: “So what if abortion ends a life?”
The author, Mary Elizabeth Williams, while acknowledging that a child in the womb is a human life, made the heartless assertion that:
“…a fetus can be a human life without the same rights as the woman in whose body it resides. She’s the boss. Her life and what is right for her circumstances and her health should automatically trump the rights of the non-autonomous entity inside her. Always.”
Even though she said life begins at conception, her bottom line conclusion was: “A life is worth sacrificing.”
Both women appear to be in agreement that the truth really doesn’t matter. Their line of reasoning is similar to that of former U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s testimony about what caused the terrorist attack in Benghazi that killed four Americans. She said, “…what difference does it make” at this point.
“Ms. Richards and Williams express a callous and frightening view of life,” lamented GRTL President Dan Becker. “It shows how far the bar has been lowered when it comes to what is considered an acceptable choice.’
In the interview, Richards tried to downplay her thinking by claiming that what Planned Parenthood does: “..is to make sure that women have all their options for health care…they have the option to have a healthy pregnancy…to put the child up for adoption…or they have the right to make a decision to terminate a pregnancy.”
How twisted to call the killing of a pre-born child “healthcare!”
As many critics have noted, Richards failed to mention that in 2012 abortions made up 93.8 percent of the agency’s so called pregnancy services. And adoptions accounted for one-sixth of one percent of its business.
In fact, the nation’s largest abortion provider performed 149 abortions for every adoption referral.
These outrageous statements should motivate pro-life supporters to work even harder to explain the truth to friends, neighbors and elected officials. Planned Parenthood is not your friendly family support group. They make their money by killing children in the womb.
