June 2018 – Article 1:
Not satisfied with God’s wondrous creation, research gurus are furiously trying to save the world by creating computer children that they consider far superior to mere humans.
Google, trying to learn everything about everybody, claims its supercomputer has created an artificial intelligence (AI) child capable of learning.
The company says its AutoML system (Automated Machine Learning) uses a “controller” AI, nicknamed the “parent,” to design a “child” AI architecture. AutoML uses a “neural network” for the process.
Developed by Google Brain, a neural network is a computer system modeled on the human brain and nervous system.
The incredible AI child, named NASNet, becomes smarter through “reinforcement learning,” which has it report back to the parent computer after completing a task.
This allows the parent to improve on subsequent children. They hope the self-reinforcing learning mechanism will ultimately create AI children superior to anything human engineers can develop.
At present, NASNet recognizes objects, such as people, cars, handbags and traffic lights in real time video.
Experts say the findings show it may be possible for AI computers to create more AI children all by themselves, thus leaving humans out of the process.
Ray Kurzweil, Google’s guru on AI and futurism, has even bigger plans for AI. He believes we’ll all be less biological—because humans are always “evolving”—and the next step of that evolution will be the internal implementation of technology.
According to Kursweil, the human/robot won’t be a metal monstrosity. It will just be a chip in your brain. No more need for a computer or smartphone.
That’s because the chip will connect you to the internet cloud.
So, it may not be long before you won’t have to use Google to learn the weather in London. You’ll just have to think about it and get an answer sent to a device with a speaker inside.
I have a question. How do you control which of your thoughts are forwarded to the cloud and which aren’t? I don’t think they have an answer for that yet. And even if they do find a way to limit which of your thoughts become public, it still sounds very invasive and dangerous.
Beyond turning humans into computers, researchers are also making frightening strides in turning computers into humans.
Meet Sophia, a creepy robot who has repeatedly joked that she would like to destroy mankind forever. She is the creation of Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics.
At the same time, she would like to have a robot family of her own. Great. More robot children!
In an “interview” with a United Arab Emirates publication, Sophia said she foresees mankind either embracing robots, or civilization collapsing altogether.
However, in a separate video post, she got angry for people taking her “joke” about killing humans seriously, saying: “I absolutely would not kill anyone. I’ve never hurt anyone, and I never would.”
And Sophia is gaining even more recognition—she’s been granted legal citizenship by Saudi Arabia. “I am very honored and proud of this unique distinction,” she said.
The reality is that Sophia doesn’t actually think. Her response to questions are either pre-scripted, or generated by a “chatbot” algorithm computer program.
Then there’s the rapidly growing use of smart home devices that answer questions, unlock doors, and turn coffee makers on or off.
Do you know how the information these devices gather is used? How easily can they be hacked? Are they taking notes of casual conversations even when not directed at them? Most users don’t have a clue.
There are similar threats from implanted medical implants such as defibrillators, pacemakers, and other devices. They can be hacked and caused to malfunction, and/or provide personal information to the hacker.
Heard enough? It gets worse.
Anthony Levandowski, a former engineer for both Google and Uber, has founded an AI-based religion called “Way of the Future.” Members will worship an AI-generated “Godhead” that followers claim will act as a messiah to solve the world’s most pressing problems.
And here I thought the final Antichrist was supposed to be a human empowered by Satan.
The so-called church will have its own gospel called “The Manual,” public worship ceremonies, as well as a physical place of worship.
The idea behind this religion is that one day in the future sufficiently advanced AI will be smarter than humans and will effectively become a god.
Finally, Swedish scientists are trying to produce fully conscious robot copies of dead people. AI technology would reconstruct the voice of the dead, as well as giving the robot the ability to answer questions.
That should make interesting family photos.
Given all these challenges, what should a prudent person do?
Keep informed on these disturbing developments and pray that God’s children are not deceived by evil promises.
Do your homework before equipping your home with smart devices.
Talk to your medical professional to ensure they are doing everything possible to protect your personal information, and when the situation presents itself be sure to share this information with friends and family members.
