Petition Governor Kemp to Convene a Special Session to End Abortion Now
Georgians Ending Abortion has launched a Personhood Amendment Petition to urge Governor Brian Kemp to convene a special session of the Georgia General Assembly to pass an amendment to the State Constitution that would recognize the paramount right to life of all human beings as persons at any stage of development from fertilization to natural death.

Path to Victory: The Georgia Personhood Amendment
Such an amendment will end the senseless killing in Georgia. It will provide protection, equal justice, and equal rights for all innocent human life at any stage of development, level of dependency, physical or mental ability, medical prognosis, manner of conception, contributions to society, age, or race.
This is our historic opportunity to advance a Personhood Amendment in the State of Georgia to put an end to the scourge of elective abortions in this state—and shine a light to other states across the country and around the world.
The Importance of Personhood
As a Christian organization, Georgia Right to Life is governed by the Word of God, which prohibits abortion. The Bible plainly states that “God created man in his own image…” (Gen 1:27) and every preborn baby is a human person from its earliest beginning (Ps 139:13-16). The Bible prohibits the taking of innocent human life in the sixth commandment “Thou shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13).
Jeremiah 1:5 demonstrates that God knows the preborn in the same way he knows a person outside the womb. “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
To be consistent with God’s Word, the laws which protect human beings who are born must equally protect those not yet born.
Finally, Matthew 22:30 says, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” The willful murder of millions of our innocent preborn neighbors is heinous in the sight of God — we are committed to seeing it end, by God’s grace and mercy.

To Governor Kemp:
Whereas, the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v Wade, and
Whereas, as was reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution you stated in 2019 that, “All life has value, all life matters and all life is worthy of protection” and,
Whereas, Article V, Section II, Paragraph VII of the Constitution of Georgia states, “The Governor may convene the General Assembly in special session by proclamation…” and
Whereas, in response to a 2012 non-binding GOP primary question sixty-six percent of voters expressed support for amending the state constitution to grant the “paramount right to life” to all innocent human beings from their earliest biological beginning until natural death; and
Whereas, no one can predict the results of the upcoming November election and there is no assurance that pro-life leaders will be elected to serve in 2023; and
Whereas, several thousand pre-born children may be legally murdered in our state before the beginning of the next regularly scheduled legislative session; and
Whereas, innocent Georgians may be legally murdered even if the “Heartbeat” law goes into effect because of the broad exceptions it contains;
Therefore, we urge you to immediately convene a special session of the Georgia General Assembly to pass an amendment to the state constitution which states:
Article I, Section I of the Constitution is amended by adding a new Paragraph to read as follows:
“Paramount right to life. This state shall recognize the paramount right to life of all human beings as persons at any stage of development from fertilization to natural death.”
