Centuries ago, in Psalm 12, King David asked God to silence flattering lips and boastful tongues like those who say, “By our tongues we will prevail; our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?” (NIV).
Nothing has changed. In a slick public relations campaign, Novavax is doing its best to convince the public that its COVID-19 vaccine has absolutely no link to abortion.
The company is currently seeking final approval for its vaccine from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Conflicting Answers
In response to questions concerning the possible use of a cell line obtained from the kidney of a baby girl aborted in the early 1970s, the company has issued conflicting and confusing statements.
“No human fetal-derived cell lines or tissue, or HEK293 cells, are used in the development, manufacture, or production of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine candidate, NVX-CoV273,” a company spokesperson has said.
Very clever. While technically accurate, the statement does not mention the testing phase of the process.
Pressed on the accuracy of their original statement, a company spokesperson ignored the testing phase and repeated its position that the company did not use HEK293 cells.
Novavax Admits Using Abortion Derived Fetal Cells
Oh wait. In a letter obtained by the Charlotte Institute, Novavax admitted that HEK293 cells were, in fact, used as part of the testing phase of its vaccine.
While the company waits for the green light to deploy its vaccine in the U.S., it already has approval in more than 40 countries including Australia, Canada, and the European Union. If as expected, it is approved by the FDA, the company will start shipping doses to the U.S. from its manufacturing partner Serum Institute in India.
Novavax was one of the original participants in the U.S. government’s effort to develop a COVID vaccine, receiving $1.8 billion from Operation Warp Speed. However, the small Maryland-based company struggled to build a manufacturing base from scratch, and its clinical data came much later than data from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
What are we to think of all this? Novavax is clearly pushing us to believe what they tell us, but we don’t have lying eyes. The truth is plainly visible.
Pro-life advocates deserve the facts. We must not be misled by those who think they can triumph with lying lips and hide the truth that Novavax used cells lines from an aborted child to deliver its vaccine.
