Gisele Gathings is lead actress in the play, Viable, a Georgia Right to Life Presents Dinner Theatre performance. Gisele took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to give us a closer look at her role in this award-winning play.
Q: Gisele, you’re an actress, vocalist, talk show host, media personality and much more. With so many varying opportunities to use your talents and skills, why Viable?
A: I am a person of intention. My choices must have divine purpose.
Q: How long have you been on the Viable journey?
A: I am an original cast member. 4+ years
Q: How is this role, as Judy in the play, different from your many acting roles?
A: Her range of emotions as a character covers the full spectrum. Her highs and lows are quite dramatic in contrast.
Q: How long has Viable been on the road? Do you have any idea approximately how many people have seen the play?
A: Viable has been on the road since 2019. Covid shut the production down March of 2020 thru 2021 which cost us 52 shows. We have been all across the U.S. with 50+ shows and counting.
Q: What do you like most about Viable?
A: I enjoy the audience allowing themselves to experience the full range of emotions in the show—engaging with our supporters following the show, and hearing the journeys of others.
Q: What is most challenging about Viable?
A: Preconceived notions about what Viable is or is not can be quite challenging to people who don’t know who or what we are. I challenge pro-life, pro-choice, undecided, young, old—really, everyone to come and see this beautiful love story about life.
Q: Tell us about Judy.
A: Judy’s emotional ARC as a character is enormous!!! She requires a great deal of NRG (energy)!!!
Q: What have you heard from audience members that most surprise you?
A: I was Judy!!! That was me!!!
Q: What kind of feedback do you get from audiences?
A: The show must be experienced in person!!! It’s very different from seeing digitally. I believe this is because they connect with and experience the emotions in their own personal space.
Q: Why should people see Viable?
A: People should see Viable because it is necessary for us to have these uncomfortable, honest dialogues and conversations in our churches, communities, families, relationships…with our children, significant others for understanding, solutions and abundant life!!!
About Viable
In 70 minutes, with three actors and two chairs, Viable’s power-packed story is a passionate portrayal of one woman attempting to beat back guilt, grief, shame and sorrow to protect her own emotions amidst post-abortion trauma.
The post-abortive mother has adopted, internalized and parroted pro-abortion talking points for three decades to justify her choice—until she encounters the redeeming love of Jesus Christ in a most unconventional and unexpected way.
To see Viable, join us on Friday, June 23, 2023, at The Venue at Friendship Springs located at 7340 Friendship Springs Blvd, Flowery Branch, GA.
