Heavenly Father, thank you for the 1.5 billion fathers in this world.
It all started with Adam, our first earthly father. We are so thankful that you built a sturdy framework—You, Lord, joined Adam and Eve as husband and wife, in holy matrimony, and ordained them to be fruitful and multiply, in that order.
Thank you Lord, that in the fullness of time, you created majestic examples of Godly fathers in Your Holy Bible who model righteousness (Noah), prayerfulness (Job), spiritual leadership (Moses), faithfulness (Abraham), obedience (Isaac), strength (Joseph-the earthly father of Jesus), forgiveness (father of the prodigal son), and slow to anger (God the Father).
Lord, thank you for the divine, sacred gift of fatherhood—as the godly attributes of fatherhood are aligned with the character of you, our Heavenly Father—generousness, kindness, showing unconditional love and compassion, and exuding loving correction and spiritual discipleship. Lord, help our fathers to cling to you—as a good father follows you, God the Father. With humility and strength as a foundation, we are grateful for the fathers who take care of their families, navigating through boulder-size challenges while loving their family, day in and day out.
Today, Lord, would you remind fathers how infinite their impact is on the family, the church, and the community—and, how deeply you care for them as fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and mentors? Please shine your bright light on their daily presence in the home, so that others will see their good works and glorify you. Lord, we humbly ask that you reward them for their humility, encourage them when they’re down and pick them up when they lose hope.
Thank you, Lord, for the father who is a faithful provider, a cheerleader in the stands who is often backstage at the recital, attending PTA meetings, reading the Bible with his children, showing up in the carpool line, holding hands with family as they enter church, teaching his daughter how to drive, showing his son how to mow the lawn, and displaying love to his wife for their children to see. Lord, you see these divine moments. They are precious in your sight.
We weep, Lord, and our hearts ache for children who don’t have a father in the home and ask that you would give them the direction they need to trust in you as their Father. Walk alongside them, Lord, as they look to you for guidance and direction. Breathe on them and remind them often, Lord, that you will never leave them nor forsake them. Lord, right now we also pray for fractured families, absent fathers, single mothers, separations and divorces, and widows raising children without their beloved husbands. Hold them close Lord, show them that you are a promise keeper—you will take care of the family, fill every need, and dry every tear.
In closing, Lord, we pray that as you strengthen fathers daily that they will in turn, reach back and mentor struggling fathers who need prayer, divine wisdom or perhaps a church home. We also Lord ask that you hold close fathers who are suffering from generational curses, past sin and guilt, addictions, and years the locusts have eaten.
Above all, help us all to raise sky high the calling of fatherhood—so that it is a sacred honor, a holy position and, so that it is the highest example of Godly leadership in the land.
Dear Heavenly Father, help all fathers to trust in you with all their heart, to lean not unto their own understanding, in all their ways acknowledge you, so that you will direct their path, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
