The recent election of Donald Trump has prompted a peculiar response from liberal women. These women have decided to boycott men as a way to – in their own words – slight the patriarchy and shatter misogyny.
Participants struck inspiration from the 4B movement that originated in South Korea. The feminist 4B movement represents the four noes: no sex, no dating, no marriage, and no kids. Left-leaning American women have adopted the swearing off of men and have even added their own edge to it. Thousands of women have gone viral for shaving their heads and refusing to wear makeup as a ploy to repel men, deconstruct internalized misogyny, and use their bodily autonomy to the fullest extent.
Fearmongering and Election Fallout
Almost half of the country was led to believe that the election of Donald Trump would result in the termination of women’s rights. Of course, the “rights” they were referring to was just one so-called right: the ability to end their children’s lives through abortion.
The media curated a sense of urgency and panic in thousands of women, hence the extreme meltdowns and reactions surfacing across several social media platforms. Vice President Kamala Harris crafted erroneous rhetoric, sending a shock wave of fear to her supporters by claiming, “Trump would further restrict abortion rights if reelected” (see source below).
Influencers, Hollywood personalities, and media outlets funneled their content through this narrative to alert and mobilize voters under the guise that women’s rights are at stake. Unfortunately, the 4B movement is a product of the disinformation spewed out over the past few months.
Reality Check
As decided in Dobbs v. Jackson (2022), the decision that overruled Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that abortion is not a right enumerated in the Constitution and is, thereby, a states’ rights issue. Intuitively, so-called abortion rights are left up to the states and are no longer a federal matter.
While Donald Trump has enacted more pro-life policies than previous officeholders, his campaign began to soften on the abortion issue. President-elect Trump has stated his support for exceptions and has left it up to the states. Further, claims regarding a federal abortion ban are just as implausible as Harris’ former promises to install federal protections for abortion.
For those who have been caught in the political warfare, ignorance has not been so bliss. In fact, ignorance has led thousands of women to shave their heads and indignantly adopt Christian morals at the same time.
The Leftist Response: Abstinence?
Inadvertently, the left has gone so far left that they have turned right. The 4B “rebellion,” meant to punish men who voted for Trump, in turn avails the pro-life movement.
Thousands of women are rallying together to chant, “If men won’t respect our bodies, they don’t get access to our bodies.” Now, Christians and abortion abolitionists alike can only hope they will remain true to their word.
Contrary to the pro-abortion narrative, most abortions are used as a form of birth control. The Charlotte Lozier Institute reports that 95.9% of abortions are due to elective and unspecified reasons. Accordingly, less than one percent of abortions occur due to rape, incest, and life of the mother.
Given the sinister reality that child slaughter has become a common practice to avert responsibility and evade the natural consequence of one’s actions, abstinence provides a moral solution to the issue.
Certainly, a societal reckoning is one step closer to the finish line; however, all human life deserves equal protection under the law from fertilization to natural death. Georgia Right to Life’s mission is to ensure that all human life is protected and dignified by amending the Georgia Constitution to guarantee the paramount right to life inherent to all human beings.
Sexual Immorality: The Sinful Root of Abortion
The entire premise behind the 4B movement is founded on false pretenses; however, it has exposed the moral quandary posed by today’s hook-up culture.
Biblically, God created the institution of marriage for one man and one woman to come together, be fruitful, and multiply. Further, the Bible urges for those who are not married to stay abstinent. Sexual immorality leads to a host of other sins and temptations including the destruction of the Imago Dei.
This culture that has glorified sexual impurity has also raced to glorify abortion, ensuring the domination of the former. While most feminists would certainly disagree, reverting back to abstinence and maintaining dignity is not regression but progression.
Make abstinence prominent, abortion unthinkable
It is nearly one-month post-election, and it seems as though the media’s skewed rhetoric has a silver lining as the 4B movement trends among liberal women. Still, it is unfortunate that women must first believe they will no longer be able to kill their unborn babies before they start expecting deference from men. But, the redemptive arc of the feminists turned traditionalists (unknowingly) remains to be that as more and more women swear-off sexual promiscuity with men, a decrease in abortions are on the horizon. It’s time to make abstinence prominent and abortion unthinkable.
