Hospice: People Beware

January 2018 – Article 1:    (This is the third of several articles dealing with protecting the elderly and infirm). When a loved one is nearing the end of life, families are faced with many stressful issues, especially how to make their last days as pain free and comfortable as possible. To meet those needs, the more than 4,000 hospice care agencies throughout the country promise to provide terminally ill individuals with physical, psychological, spiritual, and emotional support. Say It Isn’t So: Infanticide

If anyone ever needed evidence for the slippery slope oozing from legalized abortion and the degradation of the value of human life…sadly, it’s here! Two philosophy and ethics researchers recently reported that in “circumstances occur[ing] after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible”. Simply put, if abortion is legal then termination of the newborn should be as well.  The legalization of abortion in 1973 may ultimately be...

‘Planned’ Eugenics

This fall, Planned Parenthood gleefully announced yet another anniversary.  Ninety-seven years old and counting, Planned Parenthood began as the American Birth Control League, the brainchild of extreme leftist and known eugenicist, Margaret Sanger. Sanger's lifelong ambition was to reduce the world's population, particularly the poor and "unfit," through birth control: a plan she said would be the "salvation of American civilization”.   Other infamous remarks attributed to Margaret Sanger:...

Death with Dignity? A Risky Proposition For A Civilized Society

Over the past several weeks, many people have been discussing Brittany Maynard’s plan to kill herself on November 1st using a drug she obtained through Oregon’s so-called “Death with Dignity” Act.  She was diagnosed at the beginning of this year with glioblastoma, the same malignant brain cancer which took the life of Sen. Ted Kennedy in 2012.

What Does 90% Mean?

What does 90% mean to you? For me, it’s a stellar exam grade in graduate school. It’s an overwhelming certainty that my wife and I found the house we wanted to buy. It’s a huge success in endorsed candidate's election victories. Any way you cut it, 90% is a significantly big number that has far reaching implications for whatever it’s attached to. You can’t ignore 90%. That’s why whenever I’m doing Pillars of Personhood training seminars and I tell our audience that 90% of all children...

Yet in the past hundred years, millions of American citizens have been denied the rights and truths encompassed in this statement. Legalized abortion has defied...

Wanted Dead Or Alive! Part 1 – Overview

For centuries there was little debate about when a person had actually passed away. Not so today. Advances in modern medicine are truly marvelous—saving the lives of people who would have faced certain death just a few decades ago. At the same time, however, those advances have created confusion about when a life actually ends and how to treat the dying. This is especially true when it comes to declaring someone “brain dead” or in a “persistent vegetative state.” Should such persons be kept on...

Advance Directives: Patient Beware

Most people think advance health care directives and living wills are understandable, ironclad and followed to the letter. Many believe the purpose is simply to help health care providers carry out a patient’s wishes of how they want to be treated if they become unable to speak for themselves. In reality, such documents are often confusing, unclear, or outright ignored. Sadly, they can provide a vehicle that neatly fits in with the growing culture of death, which increasingly believes that...
