September 2020 – Article 3:
My wife and I have been staunch supporters of Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) for many years. We consider GRTL to be the preeminent Christian pro-life advocacy organization in Georgia.
GRTL is unlike many Christian pro-life organizations that downplay their Christian foundation, presumably so as not to alienate abortion-minded individuals who might be turned off by seeing that they are a Christian organization.
While we recognize that many of these organizations do good work, and while we have supported several of these organizations in the past, we are convicted that hiding their Christian roots hurts their witness.
That’s why we have decided to only support explicitly Christian ministries, which can’t be accused of hypocrisy when they share the gospel and witness for Christ. We applaud GRTL for publicly posting their Christian statement of faith on their website.
One of the key services GRTL provides is to vet and endorse truly pro-life candidates, specifically those that are principled in their pro-life support and do not support exceptions for rape and incest (Are those babies less deserving of protection than other babies? Are they not also formed in the Imago Dei?).
We appreciate that GRTL keeps pro-life constituents abreast of pertinent elections and runoffs, as well as relevant bills in the Georgia legislature, and that they hold politicians who have signed the pro-life pledge accountable. We typically begin our evaluation of candidates for political office by looking at GRTL’s scorecard!
Another important effort by GRTL is to organize and spearhead pro-life events around the state, such as the annual Georgia March for Life, 40 Days for Life, Pro-Life Bridges Day, and Georgia Life Chain. They offer seminars that prepare individuals to better advocate for the pre-born, such as the Pillars of Personhood training seminars, and they host the Pro-Life Oratory and Video contests, which inspire and motivate young pro-life Georgians to articulate their faith and pro-life arguments.
GRTL also offers a wealth of educational resources to the pro-life community. They have many helpful resources on their website, and they regularly share inspiring and relevant articles through their newsletters and emails.
We have enjoyed their annual REACH banquets over the years, where we and fellow guests have been blessed and educated by some of the most prominent individuals in the pro-life movement. In recent years, they have also paid for billboards and ads which speak to abortion-minded women, in hopes of providing them with timely information about alternatives to abortion or how to reverse the abortion pill.
Finally, we appreciate how they partner with other pro-life organizations across the country and in Georgia, such as the National Personhood Alliance and our own Atlanta Morning Center.
My wife and I support GRTL and commend them for your consideration!
