It’s hard to turn a corner, watch TV, attend a sporting event, or scroll on your phone without seeing corporations falling over each other to promote their involvement in Pride Month. We can’t escape it and yet, the Holy Bible contains thousands of verses about life, marriage and family, so we know for a fact that God has righteous standards concerning the sanctity of life and marriage — the two legs upon which this nation stands.
The prophet Ezekiel was a ‘watchman on the wall’ who warned people of impending judgment for continuing to violate God’s righteous standards; however, for those who remained faithful, God would, even amidst severe punishment, intercede. Righteous ones like Noah, Daniel and Jacob—who were supernaturally protected. Let’s pray that the Lord grants us similar deliverance.
Satan would love for us to become cynical about life, marriage and family—to undervalue or perhaps grow passive about that which God deems as biblically foundational to the world He created. We are living in dark days, so we need to shine plenty of light. God’s people can’t shine light if we’re defeated, downcast or discouraged. We serve the Sovereign God of the universe who has made it clear that His sovereignty rules over all.
It’s no coincidence that in June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade—during Pride Month. After all, God also has plenty to say about pride including, “The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.” Proverbs 16:5.
This verse is a reminder for us all that God has a standard. Even beyond the irony of ‘Pride Month’, in our world, pride is our greatest problem—not Satan. It’s the first sin and the most serious. To be filled with pride goes against what our God stands for. Humility is the answer. Let’s pray for all those who shout about pride and all that it exudes. Let’s celebrate life, marriage and family—as the Lord has given us so much to hold on to.
Satan rejoices when innocent lives are devalued, marriages break apart and families are destroyed. Let’s not forget that life, marriage, and family were created for us to help carry out the plan of God as first mentioned in the book of Genesis. “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him: male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27.
Stand for Truth
Here’s what we can do to stand for life, marriage, and family: Use the Bible as our standard. “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8
Be Part of the Growing Remnant
You’re not alone. At times, we might feel alone; nevertheless, God has placed all around us people who love HIm with their heart, mind, and soul. Stay in church, join a Bible study group, and seek out opportunities to share your faith. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
Honor God’s Word.
It’s not enough to study God’s word daily, let’s pray and ask the Lord to help us to honor and obey it. “Honor the Lord your God, worship only Him, and make promises in His name alone. Deuteronomy 6:13
Engage in Fervent Prayer
We must individually and collectively ask the Lord to heal our land, but it starts with us. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Pray for Revival.
In order to experience personal revival, we must have repentant, contrite hearts. “For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.” Isaiah 57:15
Embrace a Biblical Worldview
The Lord is calling on us to align all areas of our lives with His Word. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good and pleasing perfect will. Romans 12:2
Support Those Who Lead Efforts to Celebrate Life, Marriage, and Family
The disintegration of the divinely defined family is on of the most devastating issues facing our nation. The institution of the family impacts all areas of society—our schools, churches, communities and beyond. Lord, please develop in each of us the desire and the drive to help build strong families—beginning with our own. “For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.” Ephesians 3:14-15
Don’t Give Up the Kingdom of God
Let’s remain faithful servants to the Lord, no matter which way the winds blow. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58.
God values life, marriage, and family. This month and beyond, may we never forget that the very first people on the earth formed a family. From the beginning, with Adam and Eve, God has loved, blessed, and encouraged families. “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it,” Genesis 1:28a. God has not changed His mind!
Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, help us to remain steadfast in fervent prayer, faithful to you Lord, and work together to restore our nation. We recognize, Lord, that any secular rulings about life, marriage, and family that are contrary to your Word cannot be honored by those who are obedient to you. Help us to stand firm and use every opportunity to share our faith and the truth of Your Word, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
