December 2020 – Article 2:
(Note: This article is not medical advice. It presents facts to help readers make their own decision as to whether or not they take a particular COVID vaccine).
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a situation that would have been unthinkable just a few months ago.
Lockdowns, stores going out of business, schools closing, and mandated face coverings have become routine.
What’s the answer? Many hope it’s a safe and effective vaccine.
Overlooked in most of the public discourse about the issue is the question of ethics. Are these rapidly-produced vaccines being morally developed? In other words, does the production process include the use of aborted fetal cell lines from an innocent human child?
Unfortunately, that is the case with two current leaders (Moderna and Pfizer/BioNtech), as well as others.
The testing process they employed, in some cases outsourced to a third party, involved using a cell line derived from the kidney of a child aborted in the Netherlands in 1973.
They used this immoral process to conduct such testing even though ethical ways exist. It’s the convenient default method for scientists because the cells are already in a freezer.
Some of the companies in the vaccine production race are even worse. AstraZeneca, for example, used cells from that aborted child in the development of its vaccine and has continued to do so in the production process.
Before human trials begin, the standard protocol of vaccine development involves the use of animals.
In this case, specialized mice were “humanized,” meaning mice embryos, programmed to replicate human lungs, were implanted with the cell line from the aborted child.
Researchers then injected them with the vaccine, as well as a coronavirus similar to COVID-19, to test the mice’s immune responses.
It’s important to note that other vaccines are in various stages of development, some of which are not using abortion-tainted cells in either the development or production phases. However, most, if not all, are expected to use the unethical testing phase.
For more information on other vaccines being pursued, view this chart from the Lozier Institute.
Emergency Use Authorization
Both Moderna and Pfizer/BioNtech have applied to the FDA for an “Emergency Use Authorization” that could make their vaccines available as early as December.
In fact, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has predicted that a vaccine will be available by mid-December. The CDC said those in nursing homes, healthcare workers, and people at high risk would be the first in line to receive the vaccine.
It remains unclear how long a vaccine will be effective after it is taken. The latest paper on how long immunity lasts after someone has been infected with the virus and recovered suggests possibly six months.
These developments raise serious questions for anyone who respects Personhood and is concerned about the link between abortion, vaccine production, biomedicine, and human trafficking.
Georgia Right to Life’s Policy About Vaccines
Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) is opposed to vaccine development that involves the use of cell lines obtained from an aborted baby at any stage of the process. See Foundational Tenets.
At the same time, GRTL asks pro-life supporters to prayerfully consider if taking the vaccine is morally acceptable in light of the following:
- Even though the abortion occurred decades ago, it doesn’t change the fact that the cell line was obtained because of the intentional death of a child.
- Excusing it only gives the stamp of approval for the barbaric idea that scientists can continue to take advantage of this, or any other aborted child, for research.
Share Your Thoughts About Morality of Vaccines
In addition to prayerfully considering whether to take the vaccine, pro-life supporters are encouraged to contact FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn (888-463-6332 or webmail@oc.fda.gov) and demand that the FDA stop funding unethically developed vaccines and support ethical ones.
Also, please demand that the FDA publish a list of which vaccines involve the use of an abortion-tainted cell line in any stage of the process.
