Efforts to save the pre-born are under attack again. The online business review platform “Yelp” has begun flagging all Pregnancy Resource Center’s (PRCs) posts with a consumer warning notice.
In addition to pointing out that PRCs don’t provide abortions, the San Francisco-based company now incorrectly claims they “provide limited medical services and may not have licensed medical professionals on site.”
Yelp Vice President of User Operations, Noorie Mslik, said: “It has always felt unjust to me that there are clinics in the U.S. that provide misleading information, or conduct deceptive tactics, to steer pregnant people away from abortion care if that’s the path they choose to take.”
If Yelp was honestly interested in providing accurate information about PRCs, they would have done more research into how PRCs operate and what they actually do.
Empowering Men and Women
The PRC concept is now over fifty years old and has more than 2,700 centers in the U.S. that do a lot more than encourage women not to end the life of their precious child. They empower women and men with medically referenced education and life-affirming choices.
PRCs outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by 14 to 1 and are typically funded privately, while Planned Parenthood receives more than $600 million in federal funding annually to help slaughter pre-born children.
In contrast to the nation’s largest abortion mill, PRCs offer medical care and referrals, testing, education for both men and women, mentoring, and free supplies, such as diapers, car seats, and clothing.
All of this is provided by nearly 15,000 staff members and some 54,000 volunteers, including more than 10,000 fulltime and volunteer licensed medical professionals.
Their efforts are a testament to respecting the Personhood of the pre-born. More than 800,000 children are alive today thanks to PRCs, according to a report issued by the Charlotte Lozier Institute.
Standards
High standards in care have become the centerpiece of PRCs for both medical and non-medical services.
Affiliates of the three largest national PRC networks (Care Net, Heartbeat International, and the National Institute of Family Planning and Life Advocates), as well as eight other networks, adhere to a national code of ethics.
The code requires that all medical services be under the supervision and direction of a licensed physician in accordance with applicable medical standards.
Volunteers who interact with clients are required to complete specialized training that focuses on the integrity and quality of care offered with honesty, compassion, and empathy towards clients.
Services Offered
Centers offer medical services including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and STI/STD testing and treatment. Equally important, they provide life-affirming programs that consider a woman’s emotional, relational, physical, mental, and spiritual condition. They also provide community-based programs, including abstinence education, parenting classes, and fatherhood initiatives.
Post-abortion trauma can affect both women and men, which is usually the result of unresolved emotions, thoughts, or even physical problems following an abortion procedure. Helping couples recover is another vital service offered by many PRCs. For example, in 2019 approximately three out of four centers (72%) provided after abortion recovery and support to 21,698 women and 497 men.
From saving innocent lives to providing biblically based support to hurting women and men, PRCs are a much needed haven in a world that increasingly devalues human life.
