May 2020 – Article 1:
“The abortion pill was not easy on my body. I spent days throwing up, bleeding heavily, and experiencing ‘labor like’ cramps, all possible side-effects of the medication. At one point I fainted in my bathroom from the pain,” wrote a woman in Glamor magazine.
Under the headline “The Brutal Reality of Getting an Abortion During a Pandemic,” the woman—who claimed she “barely knew the person who got me pregnant”—said she wanted a surgical abortion, but chose to chemically kill her child on the recommendation of the abortion mill.
“I wanted to opt for a dilation and curettage procedure…But with the future of access to care in the age of COVID-19 so uncertain,” the center suggested RU-486 so she could have “same-day access,” rather than taking a risk and scheduling a future appointment for the procedure, she explained.
Looking back, the woman said, “I don’t regret a single step I took.”
A Different Story
How unlike Misdy, who immediately regretted taking the abortion pill and contacted the Abortion Pill Rescue Network (APRN). She obtained supplemental progesterone from a participating physician and saved the life of her child.
“I know now that Tig was sent here to me for a reason. He is the light and the best baby ever. He puts a smile on my face every single day,” she said.
APRN is now run by Heartbeat International and has saved the lives of hundreds of children.
Make Abortion More Available
At the same time, other reckless advocates were pleading to make the dangerous drug even easier to be obtained.
“Make Abortion More Available During the Pandemic—Not Less” a headline in The New York Times shouted.
Accusing several states that have attempted to close abortion mills “of reaching a new low to exploit the pandemic,” the paper said their efforts “underline a real problem for people seeking health care amid this crisis: much more of this care needs to be able to happen from home.”
Noting that “unintended pregnancies could rise as a result of people being stuck in their homes,” the paper asserts “a lack of timely access to abortion, in particular, threatens the health and economic stability of women and their families at a time when so many people are losing their income and health insurance.”
To make getting the pills easier—and ignoring their proven dangers—the paper called on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to reverse its current policy that requires women to obtain the drug at an abortion facility or hospital.
“Given the coronavirus pandemic, it is incumbent on the FDA to relax its regulation…at least temporarily. Doing so would allow many women to get a prescription for abortion-inducing drugs from a doctor via telemedicine, at which point the medications could be mailed to the patient,” the article said.
Georgia Right to Life President Ricardo Davis called the developments a shameful example of exploiting a crisis. “These people are so morally bankrupt they will go to any length to promote their evil agenda.”
Adding to the calls for increased availability of DIY abortions were a Massachusetts U.S.Senator and two of her Democratic colleagues.
In a letter to the FDA, the deadly trio said: “People who need an abortion cannot delay care and needlessly risk coronavirus exposure. Given the years of scientific evidence indicating that medication abortion is a safe and effective treatment, we ask that FDA take immediate steps to temporarily exercise enforcement discretion on in-person dispensing requirements, so that people can more easily access abortion care without putting themselves and their healthcare providers at risk of infection from COVID-19.”
(Note: Georgia Right to Life, GRTL, does not refer to RU-486 as a “medical” abortion. Medications are used to heal the sick, not kill the innocent).
RU-486 Not Safe
The senators failed to cite the latest information from the FDA showing that since its approval in 2000, this “safe” abortifacient has:
- Killed 24 women.
- Resulted in 97 ectopic pregnancies.
- Caused 1,042 hospitalizations excluding deaths.
- Involved 599 cases of blood loss requiring transfusions.
- Caused 412 infections, 69 of which were severe.
Is it any surprise that those who don’t respect innocent life would use the current crisis to promote their evil agenda?
On the contrary, it should motivate pro-Personhood advocates to be even more committed to supporting—both prayerfully and financially—GRTL’s effort to permanently eradicate an end to the disregard for the most vulnerable among us in Georgia.
